Playing today ... IX

IX was recorded in the 2004-2005 period where the Fragment King project was shifting from IDM, electro, breakbeat and drum n bass inspired noisy tracks into a GODFLESHian industrial machine. IX belongs to an album project that refers to the IDM roots. The track is minimal, elegant, cosmic and, of course, inspired by the Ixians of Frank Herbert's DUNE novels and their home planet, IX. The image shows my favorite edition of the book, the German 1980s Heyne version with the original John Schoenherr artwork.

Critical Void is an analytical audio work based on an urbanist study of the MaximiliansForum in Munich and its planning history. By employing interviews with key individuals and document research, Z‘EV, Alexandra von Bolz'n and Mark Kammerbauer developed a site-specific audio performance and work that was performed live on site on 24.07.2013. The project was curated by the Kulturreferat of the City of Munich. This is a step-by-step documentation of the project. The location that includes the MaximiliansForum art space can be found beneath the crossing of Maximilianstrasse and Altstadtring in Munich. It has escalators that are currently in disuse. FRAGMENT KING 25TH ANNIVERSARY

On the occasion of the the 25th anniversary of Fragment King, Nexialist is releasing three special compilations spanning recordings created and released between 1997 and 2014. In 1997, Fragment King recorded the "Demo That Exploded" and the adventure in speculative audible environments began. Above Us (FK 25th Anniversary Edition) features recordings written and produced during 2007 and 2010 within the Angel Position sessions in Weimar and Berlin. Furnace Lodge (FK 25th Anniversary Edition) includes tracks created during 2002 and 2007 predominantly within the Pathomechanical, Anatomic Music and Grey Album sessions in Ridgewood/USA, Weimar/Germany and Berlin/Germany.
